About the Club

Who are we?

We are an athletics club for people over the age of 10 with a physical, sensory or learning disabilities from Falkirk, Stirling and Clackmannanshire. The club provides physical activity and sports sessions for children, young people and adults in both track and field athletics, these range from walking / running 40m to 1500m, javelin, shot putt, club throw, bean bag throw, long jump and standing long jump.

We have 47 members who attend either for recreation only or if they want to compete there are 8 competitions we go to each year.

We also have a squad which meets on a Tuesday evening, entry to this squad is for athletes who want to compete and have achieved the qualifying times or distances for their event.

On a Tuesday we also have a Race Running Squad for athletes with restricted mobility. Athletes use a Running Bike which is a three wheeled bike with no pedals which supports them as they walk or run. These bikes are used by people of all ages for recreation and sport at a variety of levels. The Running Bike is a very effective way of improving overall fitness, strength and well-being. Despite considerable physical challenges, most users are able to use the Running Bike to propel themselves. The bike can be used by children from 3-4 years through to adulthood.

It is predominantly suitable for those with Cerebral Palsy, although it is also suitable for those with Muscular Dystrophy, Parkinson’s Disease and other disabilities that affect mobility and balance. Race runners would compete in events range from 40m to 1500m. Competitors are classified based on their disability and race against other competitors in their class.
